Bugs, Beetles and Butterflies, Australia

Guiding is the perfect job if you love the great outdoors and walking around in nature for a living. I was fortunate to work on the Bay of Fires Lodge walk for a couple of seasons with the Tasmanian Walking Company. A tremendous 4 day walk that starts with 2 days walking south from beach to beach to the lodge, with a night in a hidden camp behind a sand dune. The granite boulders along the coast are covered in bright orange lichen, the sand is soft and white and the air is so, so clear, the water always refreshing.

There is plenty of wildlife to be seen, perhaps a kangaroo early, wallabys and pademelons, possums, maybe a wombat. But one trip in particular I was noticing the insect world and decided to create a mandala of them. These are the McLeays Swallowtail butterfly, the Christmas Beetle, and the Southern Ladybird.
