Ok, so this is perhaps not my most striking effort, but the basketball court itself is special. Right above the water in Casco Viejo the old quarter of Panama City, it has a fantastic view of the city with its skyscrapers that line the shores… and the colourful neighbourhood in which it is set.
I’ve come to really appreciate the public sporting spaces created for the people by those who govern them. They can be such healthy, cultural hubs where the people can come together, socialise, share their passions, keep fit… and often attract artists who ornament their walls.
Here, the presidential palace is just 100m away and it’s gates are almost alongside so there’s a lot of security… and therefore minimal wall art. But with a view like that, who needs it?!
