Hanging Mobile, Japan

This mandala sprung from the most random and simple of sources, as I walked the 88 Temple Pilgrimage of Shikoku. I was taking a break from the trail one morning when i caught sight of a simple, origami mobile with long, colourful tails hanging from it by a roadside stall.

I watched it for a little while, turning it into a kaleidoscope in my minds eye. From there, it was just a small step to mandala design...
