I used quite a bit of artistic license with this image. Not with the shapes, but with the colours. If you asked ‘why would I need to do that?’, it would be a perfectly reasonable question, they really are such intricate and dazzling little birds. I guess I just really admired aspects from multiple species and kinda pushed it all together as it suited me. Hummingbirds are prolific in Costa Rica and so varied in their colours and markings. It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve seen them, they never fail to make me stop and watch until they’ve flitted away on their next errand. This mandala was really fun to draw.
All prints are produced from high quality scans that use embedded colour profiles to ensure that the print colours are as true as possible to the original artwork. The prints are archival quality, using the giclee printing process on 310gsm cotton rag paper that is acid-free and lignin-free.
Please note that colours may vary from what you see on your screen or computer monitor. This is due to the fact that every screen or monitor has a different capability to display colours and that we all see these colours differently.
