Pelican Perch, Brunswick Heads, Australia

In mid 2019 I took my van Vincent up the east coast of Australia for a few months, to escape the cooler winter months down south, and to have some time and space to enjoy the freedom of the van-life and do some drawing. I arrived in Brunswick heads one morning at the marina, and found this pelican sitting on a mooring post, one that it or another had clearly sat on before, such a mess of bird-shit dribbles was the post! The water was calm, not entirely reflective, but I decided to do a drawing of the scene. For a little interest and balance, I spun the pelican around in the reflection, because you can do that when it's your drawing.

Brunswick Heads is just north of Byron Bay, and yet another lovely Australian seaside town. Well worth a visit.
