About this Mandala
I have always loved the beauty and lifestyle of the coast. The sea, the beaches, the waves, the little villages and surf communities. I was an avid shell collector as a boy, and though I control myself in the National Parks these days, not much has changed. Shells are my truest love, but the intricacy, symmetry and beauty of a sea urchin intact, cannot be denied.
I was fortunate to work as a trekking guide on Flinders Island for Trek Tours Australia in early 2016. Flinders Island is in the Bass Strait between Tasmania and the Aussie mainland, and has a very small population. Its main geology is a spectacular bouldery granite and its beaches are majestic, wild and so often empty of people. I found a beautiful sea urchin on one such beach, took several photos of it... and actually did 3 axonometric drawings of it at the time. 3 years later, I revisited the photos and those drawings and created this mandala.
Print Information
All prints are produced from high quality scans that use embedded colour profiles to ensure that the print colours are as true as possible to the original artwork. The prints are archival quality, using the giclee printing process on 310gsm cotton rag paper that is acid-free and lignin-free.
