The Bay of Fires can be found on the north-east coast of Tasmania in Australia. I was fortunate to guide walking trips there for a couple of seasons between 2017-2019. For me, it's one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world with its soft, white beaches, its curvy, contoured granite boulders and headlands, its colourful layers of lichen, its clean air and chilly torquoise sea, its birdlife and weather-beaten coastal heaths. Look a little closer, and you'll find it's rich in cultural history too, with one of the largest indigenous midden sites in Tassie.
And if you're looking for solitude, step out onto a beach, walk... and you'll find it.
