Three Toed Sloth, Costa Rica

The sloth is hard done by. In Spanish too of course, el perezoso literally translates as ‘lazy’. 

Ok, a slow mover, enjoys long breathers. But this is its survival adaptation. Stealth. Silence. Attract no attention. After all, what’s the rush anyway? The Aussie koala gets to be called a koala and it’s basically the same. Apart from that it knows nothing of this thing called stealth or a need for it. It’s just stoned most of the time.

The sloth has taught us so much too, not that we listen real easy. Like how to slow down. Have you noticed their blissful grins? That life is good resting under gravity… and voila, then there was hammock. How to achieve equilibrium with ones natural environment AND climate. No, we owe the sloth our gratitude, not our insults. What’s the word for peaceful ninja…
