After a more than satisfying day visiting the Teotihuacan pyramids outside Mexico City, last stop was the site of these two magnificent cathedrals. The old beside its replacement, offers a stark contrast in styles. Of course, there are few straight lines in Mexico City... and more than there should be, too, for the cracks. The place is sinking into the drained lake that it was built upon, and the old cathedral here offers plenty of evidence of that, leaning and separating here and there. The new is broad and airy, with some fantastic geometric stained glass panels. Had just time enough to enjoy the sun setting behind the odd pair.
