Gunung Kelimutu, Isla Flores, Indonesia

Flores Island is in western Indonesia, and is home to the Keli Mutu National Park, a protected volcano with three different craters. Each crater contains a lake, and each lake is a different colour according to the mineral elements that are seeping into the water from the heart of the volcano below. Each of these colours is also in flux, as the volumes and mixtures of these elements varies across time.

I woke in the middle of the night in order to be picked up and driven to the summit for sunrise. It was a very cloudy start and no sign of the sun... but moving between the craters was certainly pretty spectacular.
