This drawing was a bit of an experiment really, and a tribute to the jungly rainforests of Costa Rica. By the time I drew it in 2020, I'd already spent several months, living in Puerto Viejo, where much of the jungle is at least 50m tall, the vines and climbers may as well be on steroids, and the single leaves of some understory plants are the size of small tables!
Wildlife is never far away, with sloths, hummingbirds and the Blue Morpho butterfly amongst the most common, with even the occasional toucan sighting. I decided to leave this drawing as black and white, and it sold quite well as a print while I was there, but I always intended to do another in colour. When I got around to it, the Corcovado National Park became my subject, and it can also be found as a print here too.
